Trains, Trains and more Trains!

On Monday, we got on the train in Niagara Falls heading towards Buffalo. The trip to Las Vegas will take a few days - its a good thing that the trains are more comfortable than the ones in the UK!

We arrived in Buffalo at lunchtime and had 11 hours before our next train that evening. Unfortunately, we were on the outskirts of Buffalo and there were no tourist things around. So we went to the nearest Mall for a bit of shopping and then went to see "You, Me & Dupree" at the nearby cinema - it cost us $3 which is about one pound fifty!

Back on the train we got into our sleeping bags for the overnight journey to Chicago. The train arrived on Tuesday and was late arriving here so we only had a couple of hours before leaving. We stepped outside the station once - for a breath of fresh air!

Our next train journey is due to take 36 hours! We're going to Salt Lake City and are due to arrive at 11:30pm on Wednesday night. It wasn't as bad as we thought I'd be - they have an observation lounge on the train where you can watch the world go by. We got spectacular views going through the Colorado Rockies and along the Colordao River! Later that night they even showed films on the train - we watched Ice Age 2! We also got chatting to the conductor who let Kate wear his hat!!

The train was late getting into Salt Lake City (they always seem to run late) and only arrived at 1:20am! We got a taxi to the hostel and fell into bed at 2am, glad to be sleeping on a proper bed. Unfortunately, we had to leave at 8am the next morning for the final part of our journey - a greyhound bus to Las Vegas (taking 9 hours)!

Finally we arrived in Vegas to scorching heat! Its only taken 4 days to cross most of America but it was a fun journey & we got to see some great views!
