Happy 75th Birthday Sydney Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge celebrated its 75th anniversary on the 18th March.

We headed down to Circular Quay to join in with the festivities and walked around The Rocks Market and past the various street performers.

In the afternoon, we joined the thousands of people and headed over to Milsons Point and walked across the bridge back to Circular Quay. We'd been told not to dwell while we walked but that didn't stop us from lying on the ground having photos taken next to the white road markings! We also watched as Qantas flew their jumbo jets over the bridge!

That night, we went to the Opera House bar and watched as they lit up the bridge.

St Patricks Day & 3 games of rugby!

As St Patrick's Day fell on the same day at the 75th Anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney had a St Patrick's Day parade the weekend before, when ended in a big party in Hyde Park.

We only caught the end of the parade (as we didn't know it was happening) but we joined in the festivities in Hyde Park, which included a selection of Irish musicians as well as Leprechauns!

The following weekend, we joined the masses as Sydney celebrated St Patrick's Day (I'm not sure that there are any Irish left in Ireland - they all seem to be here!!)

That day was also the final day of the 6 Nations rugby so Kate and I dragged out our friend Joe and headed into Kings Cross to the 24 Hour Sports Bar to watch all 3 games!

By the time the Wales v England was on, the pub was almost empty and it was quite a depressing atmosphere from the 6 or so England fans there. All the other people in the pub were supporting Wales no matter what their nationality was! We were glad to get out of there and headed home at 6am!
